Well about service...
people are generally very materialistic and selfish. its like, "oh, i want to earn big bucks to live in a big house, great car, good spouse and enjoy the rest of my life."
but um.. well what good is a life of luxury? you lived a happy life, you die a happy person, whoop de doo. well it hardly ever happens.
most of the time, people tend to only think about giving back to the world when they realise that their lives spent in an endless rat race to get ahead and earn big bucks is well, quite quite meaningless.
IMO, people who live their lives for others.. are a very rare race. i mean not only like to be charitable and stuff, but also how they put others before themselves, the responsibilities they take and uphold in everyday life. or maybe, most people are too scared to step forward to help, or give themselves excuses like they're too busy, or think themselves unable to make a difference.

reminds me of last year's trip to Cambodia. Mr Reuben is an example of a member of this minority group in society. he was willing to give up all that he had, a
comfortable life in urban singapore, to live with only basic needs in order so help a certain community.
i think its really respectable.

problem now is.. i find it hard to find like-minded people.. someone who shares the same ideals as me..
